Housing & Dining

Housing

The best way to describe living in an AWC residence hall, with people from different parts of the country and world that share the same desire to fulfill God’s will, is a complete and fulfilling experience… and one you wouldn’t want to miss! Here are some topics you may be curious about:

Room Attributes

Rooms are furnished with single beds, mattresses, wardrobe space, and dressers or chests suitable for two students. The student must furnish linens, blankets, small rugs, lamps, pillows, draperies, and other desirable equipment.

Choosing Your Room

Room assignments are made prior to the beginning of the fall semester. Room and roommate preferences are honored within the limits of available space. The College reserves the right to assign space as it deems appropriate.

Room Upkeep

We believe in living clean… and that includes dorm rooms. Students are taught to always keep presentable rooms through means of inspections by the proper dean, unanounced, any weekday after 9:00 a.m. It’s important to form good habits of discipline now, and we are here to help!

Laundry

Clothes washers and dryers are available in both men’s and ladies’ residence halls for those who reside there at no additional cost.

Room Appliances

Students may have a mini-fridge or similar energy appliance (with the permission of the student dean) in their room.

Room Stipulations

All dormitory students must enroll for a minimum of twelve semester hours unless other arrangements are approved by the Dean of Students. Rooms are not available for occupancy until the day before registration day of the fall semester. Rooms are engaged for the entire semester, and the rent is payable at the time of registration.

Rental Units

The College has several apartments available for married students to rent.

Dining

“Enjoyable” is the word that describes the time spent in our dining hall. The kitchen staff works hard to make sure that the cooking is really good… and feel free to ask around, because it is very good. The Dining Hall is also a place where you’ll get to share in good stories and have fun socializing with friends. Below are some details you may want to know.

What's On the Menu?

Every week, the kitchen sends out a meal menu schedule. Most of the time you will see exactly what will be served to you. However, sometimes the cooks will prepare surprise meals. Wednesday lunch is always a soup meal. Wednesday at noon is a designated weekly fast and prayer time.

When Can I Eat?

There are 3 meals served a day.  Breakfast is open from 7:00 to 9:00 and is typically self-serve. Lunch is from 12:15 to 1:00. Supper is from 4:45 to 5:30.

Tell me About the Dessert!

At various times the kitchen will decide to prepare the ice-cream machine for self-serve, soft serve deliciousness. Besides ice-cream, other sweets will be served from time to time unannounced (such as cake or doughnuts)… and yes, there is always dessert.
