Learning Through Experience

by Chet Waters, Senior

Recently I was thinking that as young people, we are often looking to the Lord for “answers”. So often in my life, I have seen God give me an “answer” in ways I had not expected. He sees what our learning styles are, and what makes us understand Him better, and uses that to help us mature in Him. Do not be discouraged when you go through a hard time. The “silver-lining” in that difficulty is what puts within us a level of understanding; a maturity that will help us to grow in life.

II Peter 3:18 states “But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To Him be glory both now and forever. Amen.” If we look back at the times where God showed us through the circumstances in our life how we are to mature, we will see that it benefited us the most. If someone were to tell you to just grow up, that does not help usually. However, when God shows us through people, work, difficulties, and tough situations, we take it to heart and we mature in that. Experiencing God working in our lives will bring us to that understanding that we need to have Him. His teaching style is the best, and if we allow Him, it will help us grow the most.
