Salem is a wonderful place to live! Early settlers to the city found this to be so more than two centuries ago. Among those early settlers were the Quakers, now called the Religious Society of Friends (“Quakers”). Salem is located in Columbiana County, approximately twenty miles southwest of Youngstown, Ohio on Route 62.
Salem is centrally located among the metropolitan areas of Youngstown, Akron, Canton, Cleveland, and Pittsburgh. Living within driving distance of these cities enables students to take advantage of the cultural attractions of large cities. Major airlines have service as close as Pittsburgh, Akron-Canton, Cleveland, and Youngstown airports.

There are several restaurants in Salem, as well as drug stores, a Wal-Mart Supercenter, and other places of business.
Salem Bible Institute was founded in 1956. The name of the Institute was later changed to Salem Bible College. On June 13, 1973, the name was again changed, due to the college becoming a part of the Allegheny Wesleyan Methodist Connection (Original Allegheny Conference).
